Bwantu wants re-match with ‘Ramos’ Phiri

By Sports Reporter
FORMER national heavyweight champion Brian Bwantu says he is hungry for a fight and will pound the current title holder Joseph ‘’Ramos’’ Phiri to reclaim his title.
Reacting to Phiri’s challenge for a fight, Bwantu said as a boxer he was always ready and appealed to any serious promoter to come forward and stage a bout for him.
Bwantu, who was dethroned last year, said in Lusaka yesterday he had not lost his taste for the title just as a snake’s poison did not lose its potency.
“I am not finished yet, I am still as poisonous as I was some time back. Ramos is always saying he has a mission. Having a mission is not a vision but from my vision comes a mission just as crops come from seeds,” he said.
He said Ramos assured him of a fight once he was done with the Lottie Mwale Promotions bout which has been repeatedly deferred.
Bwantu, who also bemoaned the poor performance by the two Zambian amateur boxers in Athens, said Government should be totally involved in minor sports and create infrastructure if Zambia was to produce the required results in international competitions in future.
He said the poor Zambian performance at the Olympics concerned everyone and finger-pointing would not help the situation.
