Kitwe Utd blunt Arrows

By Ignatius Mazeko
at Nkoloma stadium

Arrows 0 Kitwe 1
RED Arrows’ chances of retaining the Premier Division title yesterday suffered yet another setback when they started the second half of the season on a losing note.

Arrows who remain stuck on sixth position, were undone when Simeo Lubemba’s 44th minute goal gave Kitwe United maximum points in this evenly balanced KCM Premier Division rescheduled week -11 match.

Lubemba, a 28th minute substitute for defender Terence Mpundu tucked home from a rebound following a freekick he had earlier created on the edge of the penalty box that saw Arrows skipper Frank Lopi been booked.

After trailing 1-0 at halftime, Arrows mounted pressure to level matters after the restart but Charles Lota saw his low go off a Abraham Mwamba pass rattling the upright in the 71st minute.

The defeat leaves Arrows on 22 points, 15 adrift pace setters Zanaco although the Zambia Air Force (ZAF) sponsored outfit still has a game in hand.

Warriors 1 Power 1
Kabwe Warriors Football Club and Power Dynamos yesterday failed to conclusively decide who among them is superior when they settled for a one-all draw in this rescheduled match played before a sell-out crowd, James Muyanwa writes from Railway Grounds.

Power had to come from behind to level the score and ensure that they hang about within the Top Eight brackets in this rather corporeal game, which saw one Warriors defender injured.

It was the two Bwalyas from either sides who headed in home the two goals for their respective teams and ensured that the rivalry between the outfits remain unresolved.

International, Joseph Bwalya waited until he was about to be substituted, for him to head in one in the 67th minute.
Gerald Bwalya from the opposite site, this time rose to the occasion and evened the score through a header, too.
