LMC warns against late entries

LUSAKA Motor Club (LMC) chairman Fred Anderson has said late entries will not be entertained in this weekend’s Action Auto 4x4 Siavonga Challenge because the organisers want the event to be successful.
Anderson, who is also 4x4 commissioner, said in Lusaka yesterday that the route had already been set and that 22 drivers were ready to jostle for honours in this two-day ‘Safari-Type’ challenge to be flagged off from the LMC in the Showgrounds on Saturday morning.
He said from the Showgrounds, competitors would proceed to Siavonga via Chikankata and then arrive at Sandy Beach to complete Saturday’s stages.
“The route will be along the Kafue road and then we turn right after the Kafue bridge heading towards Mazabuka. We will then take a left turn at Chikankanta Hospital turn off and will have a five hour trek through the bush coming out on the Siavonga road and then head onto Sandy Beach on Saturday night,” he said.
Anderson said the final stages that include beach, rock climb and obstacle courses, would be done on Sunday around Sandy Beach followed by prize giving ceremony.
The Group 3 Security chief executive thanked the country’s Isuzu and Opel vehicle distributors for taking full sponsorship of the challenge which it adopted last season.
Among the drivers set to compete in this event are Ashish Patel, Jimmy Dons and Joseph Felemenga all from Action Auto, his Group 3 workmates Jimmy Crause and Omega ‘Tonga Bull’ Simatanga.
Others are ZMSA president and Motor Mart proprietor Derek Conroy who is expected to participate in his Range Rover and Tren Tyre Zambia consultant Adrian Naude.
Last season Action Auto staked K5 million cash and two returnable Isuzu vans for the event which was also flagged off from the LMC in the morning onto Leopards Hill road enroute to Chirundu with a pit stop at Sandy Beach.
