Malasha to be buried today

WILLIE Malasha, the Chipolopolo Soccer Fans Association (CSFA) general secretary who died on Tuesday, will be buried at Lusaka’s Old Leopards Hill cemetery today.
Malasha’s son, Robert and brother Saul Shinyanga, said Malasha, who died at the age of 54 in the UTH, would be buried at Old Leopards Hill cemetery this morning.
Mourners are advised to assemble at the funeral house at the Indeco Flats in Emmasdale at 08:30 hours.
Malasha, who is survived by a wife Ened and three children, Robert, Evans and Kabanda, did his primary school education at Myooye in Nangoma, Mumbwa district and went on to do his Form Two at Mumbwa Secondary school.
He did a tele-printing course at Zamtel College in Ndola and worked for the then Posts and Telecommunications Company (PTC) and advanced his communication studies in Egypt before resigning in 1986.
Meanwhile, Youth, Sport and Child Development Minister Gladys Nyirongo has expressed sorrow at the death of Malasha, saying Zambia had been robbed of a dedicated stakeholder in football development.
And FAZ president Teddy Mulonga was yesterday among scores of football administrators and followers who joined hundreds of Kabwe residents in paying their last respects to the late football hero Laskey Mwandu.
Speaking during the burial at Old St Mary’s cemetery in Kabwe, Mulonga described the late Mwandu as an industrious and committed football coach and administrator.
Earlier, Kabwe Warriors Club committee member Mike Chirwa said that Railway grounds had lost in Mwandu a seasoned administrator who was always available to offer advice on the smooth running of the club.
Mwandu 67, died on Monday at Kabwe General Hospital after bravely struggling with prostrate cancer.
And Ndola Squash Club vice-chairman Humphrey Mutambo’s mother, Margaret, 62, has died in Lusaka after an illness.
