Gladys talks Sichone back into Kalusha’s hands

By Sports Reporter

SPORTS Minister Gladys Nyirongo has urged FAZ to give all foreign-based players called for national duties invitation letters in good time.

Speaking after meeting German based defender Moses Sichone to try and resolve his long standoff with FAZ, Nyirongo pointed out that the problem was not with the players but had more to do with lack of proper communication.

Nyirongo said the meeting with Sichone was frank and fruitful and had helped provide a useful insight in the long standing problem in which FAZ has repeatedly experienced difficulties to assemble all its foreign-based players.

She said Sichone had assured her that he was ready to play for the national team and that it was good such a meeting had been held to try and address the issue.

“The player is ready to play for the national team and I think it was good that we held the meeting,” said Nyirongo who stressed that Sichone told her that he had no problems with either FAZ nor national team coach Kalusha Bwalya.

When contacted over the issue, FAZ spokesman Mwansa Mbulakulima declined to comment saying no official communication had been received from the minister on the matter.
