Mosi 7s draws more

By Sports Reporter

LAST year’s Currie Cup semi-finalists Falcon Rugby Club and 2000-1 Mosi Sevens winners Mphumalanga, both from South Africa, have become the latest inclusions among the foreign teams expected to contest this weekend’s Mosi Sevens International tournament.

This brings to eight the number of foreign teams, after Western Province, Eastern Province, South African Airways, Lions, the Zimbabwe national team, the Cheetahs and Goshawks also from Zimbabwe.

Mosi Seven’s media liaison officer Davey Sakala announced at a Press briefing yesterday that the teams would be expected in the country on Friday while the referee’s arrive on Thursday.

Sakala said the organising committee decided to add value to the tournament by involving the two teams.
And Zimbabwe team manager Bruce Hobeson, said his side would come to Zambia as favourities to win this weekend’s Mosi Sevens tournament billed for the Lusaka Showgrounds.

Hobeson said his team had become a force to reckon with over the past two years adding that his team performed well in the just ended Tuskers Sevens tournament held in Kenya.

Zimbabwe who lost 5-17 in the finals to emerging Springbooks, would be boasting among others, U19 star full back Tangi Nemadire.

Meanwhile, Sakala has appealed to more companies to come forward and support the international event and paid tribute to the companies that have already assisted the organising committee.

He named some of the companies as Telecel, ZEGA, Agri Tech Services, New Motor Centre, The Post Newspaper who have donated referee’s strip, Holiday Inn, Multichoice, Natural Valley, Amcor,Chilanga Cement, Madison Insurance and Delloite & Touche who are sponsoring the national team kit.
