BBA eviction: Times poll tips Paloma to survive
By NEBERT MULENGA
ONE in three Times of Zambia readers think Zambia’s envoy in the ongoing Big Brother Africa All Stars, Paloma Manda, will be spared the axe in the first round of eviction and tip Ghanian Sammi to vacate the show after tomorrow’s eviction show.
The Times this week launched a poll in conjunction with Multi-choice Zambia Ltd in which readers predicting the correct evictees from the BBA House will be winning DStv kits and T-shirts as prizes.
Entry into the competition is by short message sending (sms), closing on Friday afternoon and is available to all Times readers across the country.
Out of the 28 entries received this week, only five readers translating to 17.85 per cent think Paloma can come up for eviction on Sunday, while 11 readers or 39.2 per cent feel Sammi is the man to forget about landing the US$200,000 BBA 5 prize.
South Africa’s Lerato and Ethiopian Yacob are ranked third favourite for eviction with three votes apiece or 10.7 per cent of the vote while Meryl (Namibia), Code (Malawi), Jennifer (Mozambique), Mwisho (Tanzania), and Tatiana (Angola) are all expected to survive with only one vote each or 3.57 per cent. One reader felt none of the housemates would be evicted this week.
Hannington (Uganda), Munya (Zimbabwe), Sheila (Kenya) and the two Nigerians men, Uti and Kaone, did not receive any votes for this week’s possible evictees in our poll, which will be running during the three months duration of the BBA All Stars competition.
In the BBA edition 5 competition this week, viewers across Africa are voting to keep their favoured housemates in the House, and NOT to evict them – meaning that the housemate who garners the least number of votes will go.
The competition opened on Sunday and the Housemates were shocked to learn that on the first day of the business – Monday, July 19, 2010 – nomination time had already dawned after just spending a few moments knowing each other.
But somehow, it is understandable. Big Brother obviously considered the fact that all the housemates already knew the game inside out as well as the mind-games, having been part of the previous editions.
They woke up to a rude awakening on Monday when Big Brother immediately started summoning them to the Diary Room for nominations as to who should be evicted this week – with a few of the housemates having trouble remembering the names of the people they wanted to nominate, while others already seemed to have made up their minds on who needed to go.
There are three different ways of voting for the BBA All Stars to keep your favoured housemates in the House: via the website on the internet or the WAPsite on your mobile phone, by sending a sms, and by using MXit.
A DStv statement made available to the Times this week says to vote on the website, you should cast your vote by clicking on the housemate who you want to keep in the house and you are allowed to vote once per hour per registered email address.
To vote via SMS, which is only available to MTN subscribers, you should send the word VOTE followed by the housemate’s name to 15626 and each sms will attract a charge of K2,000. That is to say if you are voting for Paloma to stay, you should send VOTE PALOMA to 15626 from any MTN number – and you can vote as many as 100 times by SMS per mobile number during each voting period.
For those using MXit, they should open the browser on the WAP-enabled mobile phone, and type in www.mxit.com/wap to download MXit for free, then locate MXit on the phone in the applications or games section and register. Once in MXit, go to Tradepost - Voting Big Brother Africa. Voting on MXit is free and you can vote up to 10 times on MXit per voting period.
To vote using WAP (www.mnetafrica.co.za/bigbrother), you should register on the Big Brother network, or use your existing Vuzu or Oboma profile details to log in. Like MXit, voting on the website or wapsite is for free, once per hour during the voting period.
Voting begins immediately after the nomination show has been broadcast on M-Net Africa at 20:30 CAT on Monday nights and goes on till 06:00 hours CAT on the following Sunday morning.
So, to learn whether you are in line for landing the DStv kit in the Times/ Multichoice Zambia Ltd competition for this week, be sure to watch the eviction show tomorrow night!
