Glorified Ubuleme comes out of Shibemba

UK-based Zambian gospel singer, Ezekiel Shibemba, has added another album to his flourishing music career after a decade of intense theological studies, which kept him away from the studios.
Shibemba, whose last recording was Umweo (Life) in 2000, has just finalised recording all songs on the 10-track new album Ubuleme (Lamba word for Glory), and is now scheduled to return home in mid-August for a brief promotional visit.
In a telephonic interview from his UK base, the artiste who now has a Masters Degree in Theology, said the new album is a timely call for people to start yearning for more of the glory that only Christ Jesus, the foundation of the Christian faith, can give.
“When Jesus died and rose again to die no more, God glorified him and so, to anyone who believes in Jesus, Jesus shares that glory with them. It’s the same glory that overcomes all challenges, the same glory that heals us, and the same glory that makes us different,” he said.
During his 10-year absence from the studios, Shibemba has also been involved in organising and developing praise and worship teams in various UK churches – but the primary market and audience for the new album is Zambia.
“I am not targeting the UK market so much at the moment; I will do so in my next album. For this one, the main market is Zambia and this is why I am coming back home to promote it next month.”
Songs on Ubuleme album include Sengeleni (Draw Closer), Twimbe (Let us sing), Abacetekela (Those Who Believe), Cawama (It is enjoyable), Mwapola (You Are Healed) Yesu (Jesus) and the only English worship tune, Father.
