SENIOR Chief Mbuluma of the Nsengaluze people of Luangwa District has said President Rupiah Banda and his administration deserve another term in office.
And former MMD deputy national secretary Jeff Kaande is optimistic the MMD will win the 2011 tripartite elections.
The chief has since pledged continued support for President Banda and the MMD Government during the forthcoming 2011 tripartite elections.
He said President Banda and his administration deserved another term of office to allow them successfully complete the development projects the Government had embarked upon.
The traditional leader said this at the weekend when Lusaka Province Executive Committee (PEC) MMD members led by chairperson, William Banda paid a courtesy call on him at his palace.
Chief Mbuluma said the Government had taken a lot of developments to the districts, an indication that President Banda and his administration were serving the interests of the people, especially those in rural areas.
He was pleased that the Government always remembered the people of Luangwa even in times of hardship like when the district was faced with droughts and floods.
Chief Mbuluma said the Government had sent relief food to the district to help cushion the starving families whose fields had been washed away by the rising levels of water from both the Zambezi and Luangwa rivers.
He said President Banda needed his own term of office because he was currently only serving the term left by late President Levy Mwanawasa.
Mr Banda said the MMD would continue to work with all traditional leaders because the ruling party considered traditional leaders as partners in development.
He said their visit to the district was successful although there were some challenges that needed to be taken into account as soon as possible.
He said the issue of relief maize was a serious matter that needed urgent attention from the central Government because most people were in need of maize.
Mr Banda said although he was informed by the authorities in the district that the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) would send more maize to the district, the Government should expedite the process.
And Mr Kaande who pledged continued loyalty to President Banda and the MMD said the ruling party would scoop the 2011 elections.
