MOVEMENT for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) president Nevers Mumba has urged the Government to encourage opposition leaders’ presence at State events by recognising them in a way that makes them feel part of the national governance system.
Dr Mumba said sometimes the opposition leaders who attended national events did not get recognised, thereby making it appear like they “gate crashed” to the function.
He was reacting to National Democratic Congress (NDC) president Chishimba Kambwili’s call for the opposition to avoid shunning national events like Women’s Day.
Mr Kambwili said such functions provided an opportunity for dialogue among politicians.
