THE Zambia Association of Manufacturers(ZAM) has welcomed the presidential directive to the ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry to ensure that chain store supermarkets stock locally produced goods, saying it will boost the economy during this time of COVID-19 pandemic.
ZAM vice president southern region Chipego Zulu said the directive by the President was timely and would instill confidence in the local manufacturing sector.
Ms Zulu said in an interview that ZAM and the ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry had formed a task force to promote the stocking of local products in chain store supermarkets.
“We are happy with this directive, it is very good for the economy. We want more products especially agriculture products to be stocked in supermarkets,” she said.
