‘Water, sanitation services vital to people in communities’

MORE than 5.4 million people in Zambia out of the total population lack access to basic drinking water, while nine million people do not have access to basic sanitation, Africa Development Bank Country Manager Raubil Durowoju has said.
Mr Durowoju also noted that with the expected population growth from an estimated 21.3 million to 24.3 million in 2030 and to 39.1 million in 2050 directly speaks to the increasing demand for water and sanitation services.
He called for urgent need to provide water and sanitation services to the people in communities and prevent diarrheal diseases and related illnesses.
