A TEENAGE maid in Kitwe has disappeared along with two babies she was looking after.
Police suspect it is a kidnap, where a six-year-old girl and her two-month-old sibling have disappeared.
The maid, identified as Linda Chintu, 18, was last seen on Sunday with the two toddlers.
Copperbelt Police Commissioner Joyce Kasosa said the two children were left in the maid’s custody by their parents at their home in Nkana East.
The incident happened between 16:00 and 17:00 hours on Sunday and their whereabouts are unknown.
Father to the children, Kennedy Simfukwe reported the missing children to police in Nkana East as well as the missing maid.
“We have a case of missing children, who were left in the care of the maid in Nkana East but unfortunately the maid disappeared with them and their whereabouts are still unknown,” she said.
Ms Kasosa said police were investigating the matter.
In another development, a security guard at Mutende Primary School in Kitwe had been murdered while his colleague was left injured when four bandits staged a robbery at the a school in Kwacha Township.
The robbers attacked the guard and hacked him with a machete and beat his colleague with iron bars. The deceased sustained a deep cut on his head.
Ms Kasosa and Kitwe District Education Board Secretary Kezala Mwale confirmed the murder, which happened in the early hours of yesterday, and named the deceased guard as Albert Miti and his colleague Yaleti Simfukwe.
“The robbers broke into five offices within the school and stole K2,700 cash and a camera worth K4,000,” she said.
Police have since launched a manhunt for the bandits.
