CATHERINE Phiri, Zambia’s female Women Boxing Council (WBC) silver champion, says she is adapting well in Mexico ahead of her WBC bantamweight gold title fight against champion Yazmine Rivas on Saturday.
The WBC bantamweight silver champion said in an interview that she was calm, looking forward to the fight having trained for five months and that she was ready and eager to challenge Rivas for the gold title.
“I am in good shape and excellent mood for the fight. I have trained for five months, I am ready for Rivas. I have to be calm if I am to do my best.
“She (Rivas) might have all the experience as a champion but I am also a champion. I have no reason to be under pressure,” Catherine said.
Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions (OQBP) manager Christopher Malunga assured Zambians to expect nothing less than a victory.
Malunga said Catherine had prepared well and would repay the Zambians with the title for their support.
