By JULIUS PHIRI –
EASTERN Province Patriotic Front (PF) chairperson Lameck Mangani has advised all members of the ruling party to adhere to the laid down procedure when dealing with grievances.
Addressing party officials drawn from various districts of the province during a consultative meeting on Tuesday, Mr Mangani said discipline should be upheld at all times.
He said it was important for party members to always respect decisions made by the higher organs of the party.
“Issues of discipline are not negotiable. A disciplined party is a progressive party. It is important to always respect decisions made by the higher organs of the party,” he said.
Mr Mangani implored the party members to always defend Government policies at all times.
He cautioned members at the lower organs against rushing to the media if they had grievances.
He said all leaders were strongly advised to stop using the media as a tool for resolving their internal problems.
Mr Mangani said he had decided to assemble a 24-member provincial interim committee to assist in party mobilisation in the province.
Speaking at the same meeting, former Kasenengwa Member of Parliament Timothy Nyirenda said, like UNIP, the former ruling party MMD would not return to power.
Mr Nyirenda said there was need to entice party members from opposition parties like MMD to join PF in order for the ruling party to grow.
“The MMD cannot bounce back into power and the best that we can do is to ensure that we entice MMD members to join PF,” he said.
At the same meeting, party members demanded that district administrative officers (DAOs) who were appointed by the former administration should be replaced by new officials because they were undermining Government’s efforts.
The PF members cited DAOs for Lundazi, Petauke, Chadiza and Chipata who they said were appointed by the MMD Government.
