By ADRIAN MWANZA –
ZAMBIA’s CAF Champions League envoys Zanaco have clinched a friendly with Zimbabwe’s Ngezi Platinum ahead of their CAF inter-club games which they start against Gambia Armed forces next month.
Ngezi Platinum are the Zimbabwean champions and will, like Zanaco, next month play against Premeiro de Agosto on Angola for a place in the first round of the 2018 edition of the CAF Champions League.
Zanaco coach Numba Mumamba said in an interview from Chipata that his team will travel to Zimbabwe in its continued preparations for the Gambia Armed Forces home and away games which come during the weekend of February 7-9.
Zanaco will be at home in the first leg of the preliminary round.
Mumamba was also happy that the team was shaping up well from their Chipata camping with the team remaining injury free.
“Yes, we are going to set up camp in Zimbabwe and we are going to face Ngezi Platinum and some other teams as we prepare for the CAF games,” he said.
He said Zanaco would not take any chances going into this fixture and ensure Zanaco get through to the first round.
He admitted knowing little about the Gambia opponent apart from what he seen online but described the draw as being fair.
He reiterated on the need by the team to avoid complacency as this would be the first encounter between the two sides.
He said the players knew what was at stake and that they would want to go further than the group stage from last season.
