WHEN government introduced the girl-child school re-entry policy in 1997, there was much jubilation in the country especially from human rights activists and parents alike.
Before that, the girl-child’s life was highly endangered because when one fell pregnant while in school that was the end of their education aspirations.
The government’s policy then was that when a girl fell pregnant while in school they should not return to school and the only option was to force them into marriage no matter the age.
