CEEC earmarks cashew for country’s forex earner

THE Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) will soon embark on a new project which aims to catapult cashew as the country’s main foreign exchange earner.
CEEC director general Likando Mukumbuta said the commission would spend K224 million towards the cashew project in Western province.
Mr Mukumbuta said the company had embarked on an ambitious project of cashew nut production as part of an economic diversification programme that seeks to reduce the country’s dependence on copper and was targeting 500 people.
