Govt saves over $150m from FISP fertiliser procurement

THE Government has made a saving of more than US$153 million on fertiliser procurement for the 2022/2023 farming season.
Agriculture Minister Mtolo Phiri said this was attributed to the procurement and distribution of the commodity locally.
In a ministerial statement to Parliament yesterday, Mr Phiri said the initial budget for the purchase of a required 307,000tonnes of the commodity, to be supplied to 1.2million farmers under the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) was $522.5million, which had been reduced to $369million.
