GOVERNMENT has described the death of former Times Printpak Limited managing director Arnold Kapelembi as a loss to the media fraternity and the country as a whole.
Chief Government spokesperson Joseph Katema said Mr Kapelembi contributed immensely to the journalism fraternity for the three decades he served.
He was speaking before launching the ZNBC Dual-Cast television transmitter in Chingola yesterday.
Dr Katema said Government was saddened by the sudden demise of Mr Kapelembi who was also a ZNBC board member and described him as a gallant citizen.
“Government sends its condolences to Mr Kapelembi’s family, I have insufficient words to describe the loss and pain for the gallant son of the country who contributed immensely to the journalism fraternity and leaves behind an unforgettable legacy of selfless service to the country,” he said.
Dr Katema urged Journalists to emulate Mr Kapelembi’s contribution to the media industry and serve the country with diligence.
Mr Kapelembi died on Friday.
In launching the ZNBC transmitter, Dr Katema said the Patriotic Front (PF) Government was on a mission to transform the lives of Zambians.
He said the transmitters which Government had funded at a cost of K4.5 million confirmed the love and care that President Micheal Sata had for Zambians.
Dr Katema said the Copperbelt Province and Chingola in particular occupies a strategic place in the country’s economy hence the importance of investment being implemented.
ZNBC dual–cast television transmitters have been launched in Ndola, Kitwe and Chingola to improve the transmission reception on the Copperbelt Province.
