A TAXI driver of Kitwe has been robbed of his vehicle after taking a drink suspected to have been laced with an unknown drug that rendered him unconscious.
The driver was hired from Nakadoli in Chimwemwe Township to Garnetone area but found himself dumped in the bush along the Kitwe-Chingola Road after taking a drink offered by the two suspected robbers.
Copperbelt Police chief Joyce Kasosa confirmed the incident which happened on Wednesday morning and identified the victim as Thomas Chitende of House Number 6414, Chimwemwe Township.
Ms Kasosa said Mr Chitende was operating a Toyota Raum registration number ADC 1142 within Chimwemwe Township when he was booked by two unknown people who asked to be taken to Garnetone.
While on the way, the two suspected robbers offered Mr Chitende a drink which allegedly intoxicated him.
Ms Kasosa said after taking the drink, Mr Chitende become unconscious and found himself in the bush along the Kitwe-Chingola road when he awoke on Wednesday afternoon.
