GLAMOUR LOGO -NANCYI hope you had a fantastic week.
Mine was a little horrific as I had a nasty bout of food poisoning that saw me dash to the hospital.
It’s summer and yes it is the season when many will encounter what I did. It is simply not enough to assume that the food you eat in restaurants is 100 per cent safe.
So try and stick to as fresh foods as possible that is less baked foods, less casseroles, less salads which have creamy or heavy dressing and if it looks iffy it probably is.
Speaking of summer, I came up with a few beauty hacks and tricks to help you keep cool this season.
First off, take baths regularly and please do not go for the squeaky clean feel as these strips your body of all natural oils.
Have a silk or satin scarf on hand for a quick and stylish up do on hot summer days.
Avoid powdering your face to hide sweat. Instead, carry oil-blotting facial wipes to keep pores from clogging.
Continuously dumping powder on your face will just lead to breakouts, in the same vein try to have as little makeup as possible.
If your clothes get sweat satins, you can spray lemon juice on the stains right before washing and watch the stains disappear.
If you’re constantly exposed to the sun a lot, you need to use sunscreen with more than an SPF of 15.
Then when you get home and need to cool off here is a tomato scrub recipe I found on savvy naturalista.
Get two cups of  sugar and chop up a large tomato, then add a ¾ cup oil, (I love coconut oil or olive oil ) and add some drops of essential oil like tea tree .
Place sugar in a bowl and set aside; chop tomato very finely until you get it almost too mushy. Place the mushy tomato in bowl with sugar and stir, slowly add oil into the bowl and stir; add the drops of essential oil to sugar scrub and stir. Store in an airtight container and place in fridge. Make sure to label your tomato sugar scrub.
I don’t need to say it but some people need a reminder, deodorant aka roll on is your best friend.  There is no use putting perfume as your sweat will still overpower everyone rather put roll on then spray some perfume.
Here’s a tip I stumbled upon to prevent ruining straightened hair in heat (wait for it) a bit of deodorant on the back of your neck helps keep you cool and prevent sweat that can ruin straightened hair.
Try and replace use crème blush more than the powder one as it works better with sweat than the former.
Summer is the season for slippers and sandals so invest in some but please ensure that your feet are in tiptop condition.
Get a pedicure, scrub them regularly and if they are cracking rub a thin layer of Vaseline on your feet slip some socks on and keep them on overnight.
Leave the streaky makeup alone — it is time to invest in some waterproof mascaras, eyeliners, and even concealer.
As for hairstyles, try and stick to short hairdos or hairstyles away from your neck and face, I mean hairstyles that won’t affect you too much with the heat and which you won’t constantly touch.
Instead of getting creamy lipsticks smeared on your face, try a long-lasting liquid lipstick for a lightweight, yet seamless finish.
According to Curly Nikki, if you have natural hair ; “Use generous amounts of moisturizing products, both in the shower and as leave-in treatments. (This reduces diffusion of moisture into and out of the hair) Consider using a low-viscosity, easily spreadable hair gel as your primary styling agent for the summer.”
Use a lot of light oils to lock in moisture such as coconut oil, olive and any you prefer.
Of course clothing trends are leaning more towards bold patterns and prints as well as flowers (which I am not a fan of) on clothes.
You know those little dresses you packed in May, ladies it’s time to unleash them and Gentlemen bring out those shorts.
