AWARD-winning gospel artiste Chaka Nyathando better known as Pompi will tomorrow launch his latest studio project titled Broken English at Lusaka’s Mulungushi International Conference Centre.
Pompi, who cut his music teeth as a secular rap artiste, got born again and started praising God through his talent in music.
He tells DStv entertainment that all is set for the official launch of the album.
The 27-year-old’s latest offing comes a year after releasing Mizhu, an album which has collections such as Giant Killer, Make Up, Tule Shani and Kakambidwe.
What really stood out on his previous album was the production.
It was fresh, original and does not sound like your average Zambian music (which seems to have a similar baseline).
The production of the Mizhu album was handled by Magnus Mando and Sam Chintu of I & M Sounds.
The lyrical content on the album was awesome. All the songs had a great message, while not being the usual ‘traditional’ gospel songs, as the singer shares the word of God through story telling of different situations.
A good example is Refuge, one of the tracks lifted from the Mizhu project, in which a husband is telling his wife how he is not able to support her financially.
The only down side to the previous project was a track titled Empty Thrones, where the tall and slim singer featured fellow gospel artiste in Tio, who sounded lost and unmatched in the song.
This time around, Pompi’s devotees will be anticipating a much more improved studio album from the Nzelu singer who commands quite a reasonable following from a cross section of fans.

Pompi’s last stage performance was in September when he shared the stage with Hugh Masekela and Oliver Mtukudzi at the Stanbic Misty jazzy music festival.
