THE Kabwe High Court has found a Lusaka man accused of killing his father with a case to answer and put him on his defence.
Emmanuel Kamuchele has been charged with one count of murder after he was accused of killing his father Paul Kamuchele, a retired officer in the Zambia Air force (ZAF) in Mumbwa.
Kabwe High Court Judge in-charge, Mwiinde Siavwapa found Kamuchele with a case to answer for allegedly murdering his father on December 29, 2013.
Kamuchele on December 27, 2013 travelled to Mumbwa to reconcile with his father and on December 29, 2013 his father gave him a lift so that he could board a bus back to Lusaka.
It is alleged that on the way to the bus station, Kamuchele shot his father dead and dumped his body in the bush and left for Lusaka.
During the trial, the State brought in six witnesses who testified among them Malebby Namuyembe the widow of the deceased who told court that when her husband left the house on December 29, last year and he did not return.
Earlier, Matthews Ngala, a detective inspector at Mumbwa Police Station testified before Mr Justice Siavwapa that on January 6, this year he traveled to Lusaka’s Kamwala Township and searched the accused’s house where he found a pistol and ammunition which were similar to those found at the scene where the dead body was.
Meanwhile, detective Vincent Simukabe of Mumbwa Police Station said on January 4, 2014 he was assigned to investigate the incident and was led to the scene of the accident by the accused Kamuchele where the car was parked and the body of the deceased was found a few metres away from the car in a decomposed state.
Another police officer, Chief Inspector Muka Sifuwe of Mumbwa Police, told the court that on January 4, 2014 he, together with other officers, were led to the scene of crime by the accused where a Toyota Carina Reg No AJB 4723 belonging to a Mr Kamuchele who was missing at the time.
