CHAMA Zimba may not be a household name in the local gospel music arena but this is an upcoming talent with the potential to preach to souls many through song.
Chama, the third born in a family of eight, has natured his music talent from a tender stage in primary school to date, producing two albums.
His story is however different in that it involved a transition from producing circular music to gospel music, a move he described was backed by an infelt persuasion from God.
“I developed interest in singing when I was in grade seven, primarily because I was a fun of music myself,” Chama told Times Entertainment in an interview.
Chama was active in variety at talent shows held at his primary school and at the time of his completion of secondary school, he was a self acclaimed solo musician.
“In 2012, I released a circular album titled Mujube with 12 and it was marketed easily through road shows conducted by the main sponsors who in this case were Multichoice,” he said.
Suddenly, change struck and Chama was compelled to divert into gospel music and in 2013, commenced work on his album titled Jubilee which carries 13 tracks.
“These songs have been compiled in different languages due to my strong belief that people emanate from different backgrounds and as such speak different languages,” he said.
Chama next year intends to embark on a nationwide promotion of the jubilee album with the Copperbelt province earmarked to be first on the list.
Chama is currently pursuing a Diploma in Law at the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA) in Ndola and maintains his allegiance to both school and music.
Chama and other several artistes are expected to perform on December 26 in Luanshya at a fundraising concert by gospel promotion source movement.
Charges for the event are K10 ordinary, K20 VIP and K50 for complementary family tickets and time is 19:00 hours till late.
