THE Handball Association of Zambia (HAZ) has secured three international friendly matches for the boys and girls national teams ahead of the Congo Brazzaville 2015 All Africa Games (AAG) slated for September.
HAZ president Victor Banda said in an interview yesterday that the two teams will play against Tanzania, Seychelles and DR Congo to help them adequately prepare for the AAG.
Banda said the Tanzania games will be played on June 6 while the match against Seychelles will be played in July. Banda said Seychelles will set up camp in Zambia from July 13 to 25 in readiness of the AAG.
He said the team will in between the Tanzania and Seychelles games take part in a Presidential Cup tournament set for June 27 in Mozambique before wrapping up preparations with the friendly against DR Congo in August.
“HAZ has a road map to ensure we prepare our teams well for the AAG and we have secured three international friendlies with Tanzania, Seychelles and Congo DRC. We are hopeful these will greatly help shape the teams for the continental games,” he said. Banda said HAZ wants the teams to compete favourably at the AAG and this was why a series of friendly matches have been organised.
“The team has been training twice a week to help them keep in shape ahead of the friendly matches, we want to send a strong and well equipped team for the games,’’ he said.
