ROAN Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili has said that he will lobby for the 14 cooperatives in Luanshya  to benefit from the presidential solar milling plant initiative.
Mr Kambwili, who is Information and Broadcasting Services minister, said the move was aimed at empowering the cooperatives for them to be sustainable.
He said in Luanshya recently that the 14 cooperatives should operate as business entities that would benefit the community.
Mr Kambwili said once the solar milling plant was put in place, he would further discuss with the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) to be helping the cooperatives with cheap maize.
The minister said this would also help the cooperatives grow and boost their businesses.
“I will personally lobby for the cooperatives here in Luanshya to benefit from the solar milling plant under the presidential initiative. I will also lobby from the FRA so that farmers can process cheap maize,” Mr Kambwili said.
Mr Kambwili said the formation of cooperatives would help people work together and develop with one goal.
He said this was also aimed at reducing poverty at all levels starting from the communities.
The 14 cooperatives have been given basal and top-dressing fertiliser to engage in agricultural activities.
