WHO would ever think that Dorika, known for her promiscuous personality would wear a church uniform; totally transformed? ‘Born again.’?
Think of the comical part that would come with a religious gowned woman of the United Church of Zambia (UCZ).
Without making any disdain to the religion, Bob Nkosha sent a jam packed Lusaka Playhouse in to serious fits of laugher with side-splitting jokes when he broke the monotony of the diva by playing a repainted Dorika with less makeup on her and flat shoes .
One would have thought ‘she’ would be limited in terms of jokes considering that she was playing a highly religious woman affiliated to the women’s group.
Dorika is just Dorika whether born again or the promiscuous diva as she managed to give the audience what they had paid for.
Though it was a duo performance with Derrick ‘Chalo’ Khondowe known as Dangerous Joburg, the highlight was on the transformed Dorika.
Joberg was not a let down as well though most of his jokes have been repeated at almost every show he performs.
But he possesses a unique talent of twisting the same joke giving it a new life equally sending the audience agog!
The duo was making a return to Lusaka Playhouse – a traditional venue they say made most of the celebrated Zambian actors.
“This is the mother of theatre houses in Zambia and we are grateful to our cooperating partners who thought it wise to come on board to help rehabilitate this theatre hall, we all came from here,” Khondowe says.
The theatre was fulfilled to capacity with many people sitting on the stairways due to lack of adequate space in the theatre hall.
They would have used the Government complex with enough space but with the poor acoustic, they just had to make use of the Playhouse.
The duo also announced that on April 1, 2016 all roads will lead to the Lusaka’s Mulungushi International Conference Centre for yet another rib cracking comedy show.
