Lungu mourns Senior Chief Milambo

PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has expressed heartfelt grief and sorrow over the death of Senior Chief Milambo of the Aushi people of Luapula, who died in Milenge on Wednesday last week. Speaking during the funeral service, Foreign Affairs Minister Harry Kalaba said President Lungu was mourning with the Aushi people the passing on of their gallant leader. President Lungu called for peace, love and respect for each other in the chiefdom during the trying period of coping without the presence of the Senior Chief in the chiefdom. He said the late traditional leader had lived for many years, because he loved and respected people with a prime focus on life values that were tailored for development. The President said Chief Milambo promoted unity and developmental projects among his subjects during his life. Luapula Province Minister Brigadier General Benson Kapaya said the deceased was installed as senior chief in 1995 and presided over the Aushi Chiefdom for 21 years. He died at the age of 90. Brigadier General Kapaya said the late Senior Chief is survived by two wives, five children, 40 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. He said the late senior chief had the welfare of his subjects at heart and believed in uniting people from various parts of the province and from outside. General Kapaya said the late leader adhered to professional advice from Government officials on various issues.-ZANIS
