POLICE in Kabwe have arrested a soldier of Chindwin Barracks for being in possession of suspected K900 counterfeit notes.
Victor Siyanga, 33, was apprehended at 22:00 hours on Wednesday, while clubbing at Godsiny Night Club by alert members of the public.
Central Province Police chief Lombe Kamukoshi said the suspect of House Number A14 Chindwin Barracks also of Katongo Village in chief Mwanamwale in Senanga District was caught after produced a K100 fake note at the counter.
She said when word went round, members of the public apprehended Mr Siyanga and handed him over to the Police.
Ms Kamukoshi said after Mr Siyanga was searched by Police, another K800 counterfeit notes were found on him.
“It was at a night club as he was trying to cash a K100 counterfeit note and later on members of the public handed him over to us. When we searched him we discovered that he had with him another K800 fake notes all of them bearing the serial number eh122082003 and identified him as a soldier,” she said.
She said Mr Siyanga was formally charged and detained in Police custody waiting to appear in court soon.
