A TAXI driver of Kitwe has testified in the Kitwe High Court how four men attacked him and went away with his car.
The case involves Dennis Mwansa and Collins Bwalya, who are charged with one count of aggravated robbery contrary to the Laws of Zambia.
The offence took place on December 6, last year, when the two, with other unknown people, attacked Benson Simwanda and stole his Toyota Corolla, registration number ADD 7061, two cell phones and K1,360 cash, altogether valued at K33,000.
Mr Simwanda testified that on the material day around 20:00 hours, four men approached him and asked to be taken to Garneton area, which he declined.
The court heard that the group pleaded with Mr Simwanda, who then charged them K110 for the trip.
They left for Garneton and as they approached Copperhill Mall, he asked them which route they wanted to use.
The group suggested that Chingola Road was better because there would be less fuel consumption.
However, after the Garneton turn-off, the passenger in the front seat asked if he could answer the call of nature.
Mr Simwanda told him that he could not park the vehicle because someone was recently attacked in the same area.
Following persistence from the passenger, Mr Simwanda decided to stop, but he was attacked by his clients who tied a rope around his neck.
They threatened to kill him if he did not hand over his car and other valuables on him and left him at the scene.
Police later managed to apprehend the two suspects.
