THIS year’s Mr Zambia Body building contest may not be held as the Zambia Body Building and Fitness Federation (ZBBFF) is struggling to meet the K90, 000 shortfall to host the event on December 30.
ZBBFF secretary general Cornelius Chanda said in an interview that the federation had only raised the total amount K48, 000 from the total budget of K138,000 to hold the event.
Chanda said the federation was waiting for honouring of pledges from of companies like Sam-Fuel, Green Park Supermarket and Bell-Aqua among others.
“We have a budget shortfall of K90, 000. Our budget is K138, 000 in order to hold the event, few companies promised us something but they are yet to specify how much they are going to give us with,” he said.
Chanda said Corossel Mall gave them a sponsorship to hold the prejudging of the event using their facility adding this has reduced the budget constraints for the federation.
He said the entry fees is set at K200 per head and has since appealed to members of the public to come on board and support the sport.
“Corossel has given us a sponsorship to hold the prejudging of the event, this means our budget has been reduced, and entry fee is K200 for each head, let’s come in number and support the sport,” he said.
Chanda said this year’s Mr Zambia will be an open event meaning there are no categories and this will increase competition among participants.
He appealed to all other corporate companies and well-wishers to come on board and help the federation in making the event a success.
