A BLAST at a brewery in Luanshya has injured scores of workers and caused extensive damage to property.
The blast injured eight workers at Chat Breweries, leaving them with burns and fractured bones.
A similar incident happened last year after a pressure cooker exploded, killing one worker and injuring nine.
The damage was caused by a boiler which exploded.
Copperbelt Police Commissioner Charity Katanga said police received a report of an industrial accident which occurred around 01:00 hours, causing extensive damage to the wall boundary and leaving the employees with burns and fractured bones.

“We received a report from Dingi Mugode, the marketing manager who reported that there was an accident at the brewery which left eight people injured. Of the injured three were observed and discharged while five are still admitted to Roan and Thompson Hospitals, respectively,” Ms Katanga said.
Meanwhile, a man in Chililabombwe has died after being beaten to death by members of the public for stealing five heads of cabbage.
Ms Katanga said the deceased, identified as Gershom Mulenga of Kakoso Township, was caught stealing cabbage from a garden when members of the public pounced on him, inflicting mob justice.
She said the incident happened on June 14 around 14:00 hours when the deceased was caught with the cabbage, which he had stolen before being lynched by the mob.
“A good Samaritan rescued him from the mob and took him to the police. The police later noticed that his condition had worsened and took him to hospital, where he later died,” Ms Katanga said.
