A POLICE officer yesterday narrated how K200,000 with tags of  BancABC was discovered in Precious Longwe’s house after the murder of her husband in Lusaka’s Woodlands residential area.
Sunday Bwalya from Woodlands Police Station testified before Lusaka magistrate Nthadose Chabala that the money was found in four bundles of 100 notes each amounting to K50,000 in the couple’s house.
This is a matter in which Precious, who is incarcerated for murdering his husband Lubinda Litebele is charged with one count of theft.
She is alleged to have stolen K200,000 from her former employer, Banc ABC.
Mr Bwalya said on May 25, 2016 he visited the crime scene where Mr Litebele was shot dead by Precious.
He said he found that Precious had already been taken to the police station but he found her mother at the house and started searching for evidence in the presence of her (mother).
Mr Bwalya said while they were searching, he discovered in the main bedroom four bundles of money each amounting to K50,000.
He said he went to the police where the money was counted in the presence of Precious’ mother but when Precious was asked about it, she denied any connection with it.
Mr Bwalya said that Precious, however, said the only money she knew was K35,000 which was in her white hand bag.
He said he invited someone from the bank who identified the money as that belonging to the bank.
Mr Bwalya said that on June 9, 2016 the bank lodged a formal complaint to the police over the stolen K200,000.
He said that according to the information he gathered, K200,000 was part of the K400,000 which was given to Precious to be loaded in ATMs.
Mr Bwalya said that instead, Precious allegedly loaded one old ATM with K50,000 while the new one was loaded with K150,000, remaining with K200,000 which she allegedly stole.
Ms Chabala adjourned case to November 14, 2017.
