KITWE United has received a major boost to win promotion to the SuperDivision after the FAZ Disciplinary Committee awarded the team threepoints in a disputed match against Indeni.
Kitwe had appealed to the FAZ Disciplinary Committee complainingagainst Indeni’s decision to use an ineligible player, Mathews Simbeyein a match that ended in a 1-1 draw.
With this decision Kitwe returns to the summit of the Division-One Zone-Two table on 61 points, one point better that Kansanshi Dynamos with only one match to close the season.
According to a statement issued by FAZ communications manager DesmondKatongo, the disciplinary committee chaired by Joseph Jalasi foundIndeni guilty of using an ineligible player.
Katongo stated that Indeni breached Article 112 of the FAZdisciplinary code which prohibits a player from featuring for morethan one club.
“The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) disciplinary committee hasawarded three points to Kitwe United Football Club in a matter they complained against Indeni Football Club’s decision to use anineligible player in a division one fixture involving the two clubs,”Katongo stated.
Apart from awarding Kitwe three points, the committee also awarded theteam a 2-0 score line and fined Indeni K1,000.
Last month Kansanshi shot to the top of the table after winning a caseof their own against the same club Indeni for using the same Simbeye.
FAZ had postponed Kitwe and Kansanshi’s last league matches to allowthe disciplinary case to be heard and allow fair play where Kitwe will face Zesco Luapula in Mansa while Kansanshi will host Ndola United.
