PASSERS-BY in Lusaka were in for a rude shock after they discovered a decomposed body floating in a drainage opposite Kamwala trading area.
The body was discovered on Wednesday afternoon, a day after Lusaka
experienced heavy rains.
A snap check by the Times on Wednesday afternoon found a group of curious onlookers trying to catch a glimpse of the body in a drainage on Independence Avenue, in the vicinity of TAZARA House, Inter-City Bus Terminus and opposite Kamwala trading area.
Police spokesperson Esther Katongo confirmed the development in an interview yesterday, saying the body was of an unidentified male.
“The body was found around 12:00 hours by members of the public; the body was found in a decomposed state,” she said.
Ms Katongo said the body was yesterday expected to be moved to Leopards Hill Cemetery for a postmortem before being disposed of.
The cause of death was unknown by Press time.
