By SANDRA MWILA –
THE turmoil at the relegated City of Lusaka has hit a new high with developer Deigo Casilli dismantling the newly refurbished Woodlands stadium yesterday.
Casilli, who is the chief executive officer of Forli Investments, early this week pulled out sponsorship from the club after falling out with a faction of the executive and has gone a step further to remove all the property he installed at the stadium .
A check by Times yesterday found Casilli’s employees removing the plastic chairs installed from the terraces.
Other things that Diego has gone away with is a team bus he had donated to the club, set of jerseys, track suits, chairs, fridges and stoves from the canteen.
One of the employees that was found at the scene removing chairs confirmed their boss Casilli had instructed them to remove all material that he brought to Woodlands Stadium.
“The white man (Casilli) has told us to remove everything that he installed at the stadium and we are taking them to his farm. He (Casilli) has pulled out his sponsorship from the club,” the employee said.
And an executive member Edward Litana that came to witness the happenings found on the scene said it was expected of Casilli to dismantle the stadium.
“When we sat in meetings with him we could tell that he can’t be trusted and had no love for City,”Litana said.
Litana further advised the members of City to remain calm stating that Casilli’s withdrawal was for the best.
“The people of City should not worry, other sponsors will come on board. We are actually happy he has done this because he (Casilli)was the cause of our fights,” Litana said.
Asked on what next for City especially that they had a lease agreement with Casilli, Litana declined to give details but hinted that they had dragged the developer to court.
“On the lease, I can’t say much. You will be hearing it from the courts and on the shops they are not owned by Casilli alone,”he said.
He added that Casilli should also bring back their club house he had demolished to pave way for the construction of Shoprite store.
