FORMER Zambian golf champion Trevor Kinnear has died and will be put to rest in Ndola this week.
Kinnear, 59, died in Lusaka last week Thursday after a battle with cancer which was diagnosed at Stage-Two and is best remembered for his dedication to uplifting the levels of golf in the country.
His brother in-law Lawrence Thomson confirmed the death and that the funeral was being held in Northmead but that the body will be taken to Ndola for burial at Kansenshi Cemetery this Wednesday.
Kinnear started off a young golfer in Ndola before he moved to Lusaka and joined the Lusaka Golf Club as an amateur before turning professional and helped coach a lot of junior players starting up the game.
In his playing career, he twice won the Chick O’North tournament, which was the ultimate Zambia junior golf tournament and was also a winner of the Order of Merit in his junior golfing days.
The former Ndola and Lusaka Golf club player leaves behind a wife, Olivia, five children and five grandchildren.
