By JAMES KUNDA –
THE police have instituted investigations to clamp down on the perpetrators of digital space abuse that recently stormed social media, posting fake statements of President Edgar Lungu reshuffling Cabinet.
Police spokesperson Esther Katongo said in an interview yesterday that significant progress had been made in bringing the perpetrators of the scourge to book and that the nation would be informed of the outcome of the probe.
Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda recently said purveying rumours and false news online was criminal in the form of forgery and false utterance.
Mr Chanda said the Presidency expected the vice to be stopped by law-enforcement wings to avert public anxiety and misinformation.
