THE Zambia Coope-ratives Federation (ZCF) has commenced the installation of the 200 tonne conventional milling plants in Luanshya and Mbala Districts.
ZCF director projects Derrick Sokoni said the design process for the 200 tonne each was already on-going and that the two conventional milling plants would rely on power from ZESCO.
The control system would however be solar powered.
“We have started installation works on the 400 tonne conventional milling plants, 200 tonne per 24 hours each in Luanshya on the Copperbelt province and Mbala district in Northern province,” Mr Sokoni said.
Mr Sokoni said in an interview that engineers on the ground were currently conducting soil test for the two sites to determine the load bearing properties of the soils, so they can use the information to design foundations of the silos, mill buildings and everything needed to be constructed.
He said once the designs have been done, civil works would commence.
Mr Sokoni said this meant land had to be prepared, building drainage systems, initial buildings required such as office block and ensuring  there was power supply from ZESCO in readiness for the construction  of a warehouse.
