INFORMATION and Broadcasting Services Minister Dora Siliya has said that she will hold talks with the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), Times of Zambia and Daily Mail managements and the Zambia Union of Journalists (ZUJ) next week to address the prevailing financial challenges at the two institutions.
Ms Siliya said Government had outstanding issues with Times of Zambia and Daily Mail as the two institutions were facing a number of financial challenges, particularly, the Times.
She said she recently met with the Zambia Union of Journalists (ZUJ) at which meeting a number of issues were discussed and where she indicated that a meeting with shareholders of the two institutions would soon convene.
“We require an open dialogue with all parties involved and this is why I have called IDC, Times of Zambia and Daily Mail management to meet next week Tuesday after which an update would be given on the way forward,” Ms Siliya said.
She said it was time that managements and shareholders at the two public institutions began thinking outside the box in providing long lasting solutions to the challenges being faced.
Ms Siliya said the two institutions were limping for various reasons and what was needed to be done was to look towards the future and come up with permanent solutions to address the financial difficulties.
She said solutions needed to be found in the shortest period possible to ensure that jobs were secure and the two institutions continued with their production.
