LABOUR unions and energy stakeholders are urging Zesco to suspend its plans for a hike in electricity tariffs to allow for further consultations saying it was important to take into account the impact of the proposed adjustments on households.
The Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) said Zesco should have consulted widely before proposing to increase electricity tariffs.
ZCTU secretary general Cosmas Chileshe said the proposed hike, expected to take effect on May 1, should be halted because it would cause suffering among the struggling workers.
