THE Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) yesterday turned away a Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) delegation over the K1.4 million in speed fines that was deposited in an unauthorised account.
PAC chairperson Howard Kunda yesterday asked the RTSA delegation led by Transport and Communications Permanent Secretary Misheck Lungu to return tomorrow with consolidated proof that the money was re-deposited into the correct account.
The Auditor General’s report for 2018 released recently revealed that the K1,484,707 collected from 4,956 speed fines was deposited into a bank account which was not among the 16 approved by the Ministry of Finance.
