Mobe Sugar plantation earmarked for Ngabwe

MOBE Sugar Company has secured title for 17,000 hectares of land for the establishment of a sugar plantation in Ngabwe District, Central Province.
The company is set to invest 150 million Euros in sugar cane production, processing and create about 2,100 jobs for the people of Ngabwe and Luanshya districts.
The sugar plantation and processing plant will be located in Ngabwe while the packaging plant will be in Luanshya.
Interim chief executive officer Kennedy Simpemba said the company which was currently working on the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the project which would be located on the banks of the Kafue River had however suspended activities due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
