SURVIVING member of the Blackfoot Band, Alfred Yabe has put the band’s Footsteps album on Compact Disc (CD) in memory of his fallen colleagues and rewind back into time.
“This album is meant to give the young people a feel of what music was like that time, and at the same time remember my brothers who have since died,” said Yabe.
Blackfoot was born in 1973 and consisted Tanzanian born Ottman Bonny Mpondzi on Lead, Alfred “Gear” Yabe (Rhythm), Garry Musopa (Bass) Fortune Makunike on drums and later brothers, Paul and Peter Chilufya.
Produced in 1978 on wax records, the redone album still retains the original rolling drum beats, heavy bass, fine guitars and vocals.
Footsteps is pegged at K40.00 per CD and plays songs like Pumpa Joe, Sound in My sleep and Lonely Highway among others.
