MORE than 300 Lusaka residents, mostly young people, have been swindled out of K500 each by a suspected conman who told them he was recruiting them for a workshop purportedly arranged by the National AIDS Council (NAC).
The NAC says the suspect whose name was given was using the mobile number 0977752089 to communicate with the unsuspecting youth but then number switched off on Monday, the day the supposed workshop was set to begin.
NAC communications manager Justine Mwiinga confirmed the scam in a statement yesterday, saying the youths were also assured that they would be paid allowances at the workshop.
