Luapula cassava traders cry foul

SMALL-scale cassava traders in Luapula Province are slowly being pushed out of business by large companies who buy the commodity in bulk. The traders alleged that big companies wiped out everything on the market, leaving them with nothing to lean on. A check at Chembe and Samfya markets found few traders selling cassava and cassava meal in their stands. Barbara Bwalya, a trader at Samfya market said in an interview that cassava was on high demand and that it was difficult to source for the commodity.
