By MOSES CHIMFWEMBE –

CHIPOLOPOLO defender Hichani Himonde is set for a reunion with his former club Zesco United when he joins on a six-month loan from South African PSL giants Mamelodi Sundowns.
Himoonde, who left Zesco for Congo DR champions TP Mazembe in 2010 before joining Sundowns last month, has been loaned to Zesco alongside Togolese international Emmanuel Matthias.
Zesco United media and public relations officer Katebe Chengo confirmed the development in an interview yesterday.
Chengo said the two players will join the Ndola outfit soon after being cleared in accordance with the FIFA regulations governing the Status and Transfer of Players which requires national associations to issue an International Transfer Certificate (ITC) for any player over the age of 12 who is moving from one National Association to another.
“Yes I can confirm that the two players will be coming to Zesco on loan. Zesco has entered into an agreement with Sundowns for an exchange of players and some players who need game time will be coming here but for now, we will only have these two players,” she said.
Sundowns were recently in the country to take part in the four-club pre-season training tournament at the invitation of Zesco in a competition that also attracted Power Dynamos and Don Bosco from DR Congo.
It is also understood that Sundowns, who have exhausted their foreign quota of players, had planned to use injured Mukuka Mulenga’s slot for Himoonde.
This was after Mulenga was reported to be out for the rest of the season but the technical bench has now been advised that midfielder will be ready to play by the end of the season.
Himoonde, who was left out of the Chipolopolo squad that will face the Cranes of Uganda in an International friendly on March 5, is ineligible for Zesco’s Confederation Cup games.
