FQM conservation farming project farmers in maize bumper harvest

FIRST Quantum Minerals’ (FQM) Conservation Farming Project farmers have recorded a maize bumper harvest of 9,000 tonnes this year. The farmers have this year increased their output to 9,000 from 6,000 tonnes recorded last year.
The increased crop output was attributed to crop rotation and modern agricultural practices. FQM’s Kansanshi Foundation supervisor in charge of Conservation Farming Training and Operation, Maximillian Katanga said most farmers in communities surrounding the mining operations were mostly subsistence farmers.
