Kwacha best performing currency since Aug 12

THE Zambian Kwacha has extended its gains against the United States (US) dollar making it the world’s best performing currency since the August 12, general elections. According to Absa Bank Zambia, opening the market on Wednesday, the local unit traded at levels of K 16.600/K16.650 per dollar, on the bid and offer respectively.
It gained 15 ngwee to close the session at K16.4500/K16.5000
“Near term, we are likely to see the Kwacha strengthen further on improved supply and market confidence,” states Absa in its Zambia Market Update for yesterday.
